Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety and depression are among the most common reasons people seek therapy - and among the most responsive to genuine human support. If you are living in Prague and struggling with either, you don't have to carry it alone.

When anxiety takes over

Anxiety can show up in many ways: a tightness in your chest, racing thoughts that won't quiet down, a persistent sense that something is about to go wrong. Sometimes it has a clear trigger - a stressful job, a relationship difficulty, the uncertainty of living abroad. Other times it seems to come from nowhere. Either way, it is real and it matters.

In person-centred therapy, we don't rush to "fix" your anxiety with techniques. Instead, we explore what your anxiety might be telling you about your life, your needs, and the gap between who you are and how you are living. Often, anxiety begins to ease when you feel truly heard and no longer alone with it.

When depression dims the light

Depression can feel like a heavy fog - everything becomes more difficult, less meaningful, harder to care about. You may withdraw from people, lose motivation, or feel a deep sadness you can't quite explain. Depression often signals that something essential in your life needs attention.

I offer a space where you can bring all of that heaviness without judgment. There is no pressure to "think positive" or push through. Sometimes the most healing thing is to be met exactly where you are, in the darkness, by someone who isn't afraid to sit there with you.

You might recognise yourself in some of these experiences:

  • Persistent worry or dread that interferes with daily life
  • Difficulty sleeping, or sleeping too much
  • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Feeling overwhelmed by tasks that once felt manageable
  • Physical symptoms like tension, fatigue, or stomach problems
  • A sense of emptiness or disconnection from yourself

How I work with anxiety and depression

As a person-centred therapist in Prague, I follow the approach developed by Carl Rogers: I trust that you carry within you the capacity for healing and growth. My role is not to diagnose or prescribe, but to provide a relationship of genuine warmth, empathy, and honesty in which your own resources can reawaken.

Sessions are available in English, German, and French - in person at my Prague practice or online. If you are experiencing anxiety or depression and feel ready to reach out, I welcome you to get in touch for a first conversation.
